You Can’t Eat Coal

Restore our Hunter River, let clean waters flow
Keep our harvests healthy, let our food crops grow
We need good fruit and veges, to keep our bodies whole
What we know for certain is, you can’t eat coal

Open cut we say no, greedy mining has to go

Ripping up our valley for a million tonnes a day
Train wagons keep on roaring, while our land is blown away
Excavating mountains, digging down to hell
Corporations profit, its our future that they sell

Open cut we say no, greedy mining has to go

Coal dust in our clothing, coal dust in our hair
Dust gets in our eyes and lungs, dust gets everywhere
We love our Hunter Valley, we want it back again
For a clean and healthy future, we will sing until the end..

Open cut we say no, greedy mining has to go
